What’s the News? Our hometown is the hub for the kickoff of the 2024 HBCU college football season. The Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kick-Off is back at the Center Parc Stadium on Saturday, August 24. The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Rattlers and the Norfolk State University Spartans will represent their athletic division for a face off to kick start the HBCU football season.

On the road to the game, the activities began Tuesday, August 20 at Bellwood Boys & Girls Club. 40+ Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta teens came together for another College 101 Session. Three Cricket HBCU Campus Ambassadors shared insights on preparing for college and taking advantage of experiences for their future. 250 Metro Atlanta BGCA teens will get to experience the revelry of gameday with complimentary tickets. Thursday, August 22 at Benjamin E. Mays High School, Cricket representatives participated in ESPN’s High School Seminar. They shared tips on how teens can leverage social media positively in their personal and professional lives.

The 2024 class of Cricket HBCU Campus Ambassadors will join #CricketNation for the electrifying tailgate before the game. The 15 students from the Mid-eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) will tailgate to the college jamboree’s sounds before watching the face off.
